Austin Simmons
PE, NER, RPEQ
Senior Principal | Technology Director | Brisbane Office Director
Austin Simmons once had a construction co-worker tell him to “use your brain instead of your body and become an engineer.” Taking an inventory of his strengths in science and math and his lifelong enthusiasm for drawing buildings, he pivoted toward the field of architectural engineering.
Since joining ME Engineers in 2001, Austin has grown into a senior principal, technology director, and the office director for ME’s Brisbane location. He leads technology integration services, community master planning, and dry utilities planning and coordination, overseeing project teams, system design, and construction administration with a focus on telecommunications infrastructure.
A specialist in technology systems design, Austin brings expertise in communications support structures, cabling systems (copper and fiber optic), security, IT, Wi-Fi, DAS systems, electrical systems, and utility service coordination. His deep interest in building systems has taken him around the world, working with teams to bring innovative projects to life.
