Henry Mayo Memorial Hospital New Patient Tower

119-Bed Tower and Level II Trauma Center

The 6-story tower is the focal point of a 15-year master plan expansion of the campus and features unobstructed views from all patient rooms. It includes a Center for Women and Newborns, a rooftop helipad with direct access to the ER, the main kitchen for the hospital, indoor and outdoor dining, and a 2-story central utility plant on a very constricted site.  The solution to the CUP’s small footprint and height constraints was to place one story below grade, working out complex issues in equipment specification and accessibility.
