Arguably the most sustainable arena in the world
Renovations to the 800,000 SF historic landmark arena creates the first certified zero carbon arena in the world. This complex project leaves the roof and building facade intact while completely renovating the interior. The arena is home to the NHL Seattle Kraken as well as the WNBA Seattle Storm.
The arena is designed to be carbon neutral by conserving the historic rooftop and expanding underground space that will reduce embodied energy that comes with new building construction, converting all systems to be 100% electric, eliminating the need for fossil fuels, and installing solar panels for 100% renewable energy use. In addition, zero single use plastic and zero waste measures will be implemented. LEED Gold certification.
