MEP design of retractable roof for the home of the US Open Tennis Championships

A retractable roof was added to the 22,547-seat stadium, the world’s largest professional tennis venue. The $150 million addition spans five times the length of the Wimbledon Centre Court roof. The new retractable roof solves a challenging airflow dynamics issue associated with the prior free floating roof by conditioning the interior space to control humidity. During the two weeks of the US Open Tennis Championship, the ME team is on-site collecting performance data and managing the indoor climate to ensure a comfortable experience for players and fans.
