    This 37,480 sf venue seats 2,050 people in front of a sunken stage. It contains a recording studio, dressing rooms, offices, and restrooms, and is covered by a Teflon-coated fiberglass tent.

    Beacon Theatre Restoration

    New York, NY

    Renovation of the landmarked 4,000-seat Beacon Theater on the upper west side of Manhattan. Work included new electrical services, emergency lighting, fire alarm, security, IT infrastructure and fire protection systems in front and back of house areas.

    Brooklyn Philharmonic Music Center

    New York, NY

    The project re-adapted a decommissioned fire department engine house to serve as a performance and office space. The scope of work included the complete renovation of the building’s two-story, 4,250 sf interior.

    The Center has a 39,000 sf performing arts wing and a 40,000 sf arts and education wing. It features a 525-seat proscenium theater, a studio theater, art rooms, visiting artists housing, artists studios, dance studios, classrooms, ceramics studio, wood shop, employee housing, and a parking structure.

    El Capitan Theater Upgrades

    Hollywood, CA

    This design-build project consisted of replacing all HVAC systems and all electrical upgrades for various studios and related support spaces for this Hollywood District landmark.

    Ellie Caulkins Opera House at the Newton Auditorium

    Denver, CO

    The $75 million, 2,400-seat theatre and support spaces were built inside the shell of the historic Newton Auditorium. The theatre is designed around un-amplified natural acoustics and improved sight lines to the stage.

    Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

    Kansas City, MO

    This 316,000 sf venue houses the 1,800-seat Muriel Kauffman Theatre for general performances, and the 1,600-seat Helzberg Hall. ME provided the special systems design including communication infrastructure (telecom, data, wi-fi, pos) and security systems (access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection).

    Kenneth King Academic & Performing Arts Center

    Denver, CO

    New 212,000 sf Performing Arts studio, classroom and office building. The Performing Arts portions include areas of stringent noise and aesthetic design challenges as well as fully capable paint and construction shops.
  • The building’s relative humidity is controlled via an innovative air dew point control system. Performance spaces include a 350-seat Theatre, a 550-seat Concert Hall, and a 200-seat Recital Hall. The firm provided mechanical engineering services.

    The 30,500 sf addition to the Mesa State College Performing Arts Center includes a recital hall, music rooms, stage support spaces, theater classrooms, and offices.

    Parker Performing Arts

    Parker, CO

    The $16.5 million facility includes a 500-seat auditorium, formal stage, back of house spaces, and event area with a full kitchen, a dance studio, art gallery and patron amenities. ME provided full MEP, lighting and technology infrastructure design for the award-winning venue.

    Complete MEP and technology systems design and onsite supervisory duties for the IndigO2 entertainment venue located within The O2. With a flexible capacity of 2,400, IndigO2 facilitates a host of events such as live music, comedy, club night, TV recording or corporate events.

    UCLA Kaufman Hall
    Renovations

    Los Angeles, CA

    The project renovated 81,000 sf of the existing dance building and added 3,600 sf to provide a performing arts venue and facility supportive of the needs of the World Arts and Cultural program. Services included extensive subsystem infrastructure for theatrical systems and design to meet strict noise criteria.
  • UC Irvine
    Contemporary Arts Center

    Irvine, CA

    This new 5-story, 72,000 sf facility contains a large 2-story black box theater, performance capture studio, green screen stage for HD video, art gallery, screening room, faculty offices and support spaces delivered via a design-build format. The Center is a high performance project using innovative strategies for energy efficiency. The theater and gallery are placed in the venue’s interior and designed with full climate controls. Taking advantage of the mild coastal climate, smaller spaces and corridors make up most of the building’s exterior and are naturally ventilated. A design for a cross ventilation and cooling system was developed through wind tunnel tests. LEED Gold certification in process.

     

  • University of Colorado Visual & Performing Arts Center

    Colorado Springs, CO

    New 89,000 sf facility with a micro-master plan for future additions and improvements. It consists of a 750-seat main theater, a 250-seat recital hall and the University's 250-seat Dusty Loo Bon Vivant Theatre, a 100-seat Osborne Theatre and the Gallery of Contemporary Art, rehearsal spaces, coffee shop and vualty offices. Target: LEED Gold.

    Watford Colosseum

    London, UK

    Part of a specialist design team to undertake the full refurbishment and extension of this historic 1930’s listed theatre. The works included substantial improvements to the main auditorium, the redevelopment of the Small Hall to facilitate music and conference facilities and a wraparound extension which improves the theatre’s food and beverage offering.
